Mary Brodbeck

Mary Brodbeck

Woodblock prints made in the Japanese tradition has been my primary medium for about ten years. With the Great Lakes landscape as my primary subject, I use this medium as a vehicle for me to make well-crafted, expressive and beautiful things to be looked at and lived with. My work is elementally about composition, shape, contrast and color. I create what I feel is both personal to me and important to voice – resulting in an expression that each viewer interprets uniquely. My hope is that my art cheers to the good qualities in all of us and speaks of love, beauty, mystery, desire and hope.
